What does the image stand for? This event explores the concept of photographic evidence in all its guises. It presents works that question the veracity of the image and delve into the more imaginary and sublime aspects of reality, inviting viewers to take a critical stance toward the testimonial value of lens-based images.

About the Organizers
Montreal's Month of Photography (MPM) is a major international biennial dedicated to contemporary images. Since its first edition in September 1989, the MPM has provided a unique and challenging opportunity to discover the latest trends in photography and moving images. In each edition, a guest curator proposes a theme to explore and selects between twenty and forty artists, whose works are presented in fifteen places throughout the city. The exhibitions are accompanied by an illustrated publication, an international colloquium, the Dazibao Prize, a portfolio of portfolios, as well as a series of artist conferences, video screenings, workshops and visits Guided tours for all ages.
Over the years, the program presented at the Biennale has demonstrated artistic and intellectual rigor, while being accessible to a wide audience. As one of the city's major cultural events, the MPM is helping to make Montréal a city of avant-garde artistic creation and an unmissable destination.
Montreal's Month of Photography is a non-profit, self-governing corporation and is recognized as a charitable organization by the Canada Revenue Agency. The MPM is a member of Festivals and Événements Québec, Tourisme Montréal and Festival of Light.
